Any idea's? I just started a new place and have no client's. The last place I worked made me sign a no compete clause. She is now going out of business, do you think I can contact my old clients now?

Well, moving to California so I don't think she will be taking any clients.

Hi :)

I am new to the forum! I have a spa and wanted to say that all I do for advertising is facebook lol. I used to do radio/newspaper etc but found that it did nothing for me. With facebook I created a page for my spa and invited my friends who live here (or used to) asking them to help support my new business by either joining or inviting their friends from around here. When I did this - I ran a special for a week as well and I was so busy it was ridiculous. I now email out my specials once a month (if we are too busy we dont run any).

Also - I took flyers around to businesses when I first started with my specials and info to join my facebook page.

I admit - the first special I ran was with MAJOR discounted prices as a grande opening. For instance we did our regularly $70 pedicures for $25....it generated clientelle for us and most are repeat clients now. I know a lot of people would say - um, I am not doing them for that cheap. But for me - starting out in a place like where I live it is really difficult....and each of our techs/estheticians/RMT made over $2000 in our first two weeks. So - whatever works...and I would rather be making a small amount of money than nothing!
Good luck!

oh - I wanted to throw this in too. I havent done it as I dont use twitter, but a local marketing firm held a marketing seminar. A friend who went actually said during her presentation that two of the best ways to advertise are through free methods such as facebook and twitter (I dont even know what twitter is lol). Anyways - I felt pretty good since I am doing the facebook thing lol

and thanks for the welcome Tammy!

For Facebook & Twitter, just Google "Social Media Marketing Ideas for Small Business" and there will be a wealth of free information for you to get started.

I'm actually working on an E-Book on building clientele for the NSI website. Do you think this is something nail techs would be interested in? I'm collecting information from a lot of different professional sources.

I would love it. I am going to really hope that I find a busy Spa that will allow me to take walk-ins, hence building my clientele...but I certainly would love any tips/tricks!

Social Media is definitely a powerful way to generate clients. If you don't have one already, you should have a website created too. You can do it yourself or have someone build it for you for a nominal fee, but you really need to have a web presence to make the social media work really pay off 100%.

You're very lucky to have that connection! Definitely get that domain - something that is easy to remember and also consider buying some other domains (they are cheap) that link to your site...for example. If your site is "www.nailsbyjamie.com", you could also buy "www.nailsbyjaime.com" OR if your site is www.secretnailssalon.com" you could also buy "www.secretnails.com" - get what I'm saying? Make it as easy as possible for someone to find your site.
